We believe that STEM/STEAM should be available to ALL students regardless of their zip code, race, gender or income.

The STEAM Street story began over 25 years ago.

As a young girl, our founder had a love of science and math. Her high school counselor would not let her take drafting because she was a girl. The counselor also attempted to downplay her abilities and tried to push her into nursing instead of aspiring to pursue an MD/PhD in forensic toxicology.

While attending Texas Southern University on an academic scholarship, she learned to love STEM and research by working in labs across campus during the school year. During the summers, she worked in labs at Howard University and the University of Kentucky. She graduated as a Biology/Chemistry major and a Math minor.

With over 25 years as an STEM/STEAM educator, our founder is passionate about providing opportunities for students, specifically those students that are underrepresented and underserved in the STEM/STEAM continuum.
